Training Series on Lung Cancer Early Detection Using Low-Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT)

This Medudy video series is a video tutorial for physicians on the topic of “Continuing Education Series on Early Detection of Lung Cancer Using Low-Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT).”

As chair of this continuing education series, Prof. Dr. Felix Herth, a pulmonologist and respiratory medicine specialist at the Thoraxklinik Heidelberg, together with his colleagues Prof. Dr. Hans Hoffmann, Dr. Ingrid Dänschel, Prof. Dr. Jens Vogel-Claussen, and Dr. Claudia Bauer-Kemény, what referring physicians need to know following the introduction of lung cancer screening as a covered benefit by health insurance providers as of April 1, 2026, in order to identify suitable participants and thus help reduce lung cancer mortality.

This twelve-part series covers the basics and procedure of early detection screening, including how to identify, enroll, and educate eligible individuals; the classification of findings according to V-Lung-RADS; and the balancing of benefits and risks. In addition, the series covers the communication of findings, the management of incidental findings and incidental pulmonary round foci, the pathway from LDCT findings to treatment, and smoking cessation.
