This Medudy series is a video tutorial for physicians on “Olaparib: Developments and Prospects for PARP Inhibition in Cancer Treatment.”
This four-part module examines the use of olaparib in various oncological indications and is presented by an interdisciplinary team of experts.
To begin with, Professor Peter Hammerer discusses the combination therapy of olaparib and abiraterone as first-line treatment for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, with the key evidence for this treatment coming from the PROpel study.
Building on this, the series turns to gynecologic oncology: In the second part, Professor Fabian Trillsch discusses the role of olaparib in first-line maintenance therapy for advanced HRD-positive ovarian cancer, drawing on the SOLO-1 and PAOLA-1 studies, as well as the central role of molecular diagnostics.
In the third section, he then examines the role of PARP inhibition in non-dMMR tumors in advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer, with a focus here as well on molecular diagnostics and the DUO-E study.
In conclusion, in the fourth part, Professor Hans-Christian Kolberg focuses on precision oncology in the context of germline BRCA1/2 mutations and presents the OlympiA study as the basis for the approval of olaparib for early-stage HER2-negative breast cancer with a high risk of recurrence.
