Blood biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease

This Medudy course is a video tutorial for physicians on the topic of "Blood biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease". The format used here is a so-called "Journal Club Summary", in which we summarize the latest and most clinically relevant studies for you.

Alzheimer's-specific blood biomarkers have recently been identified as a promising method for predicting dementia. New data suggest that these biomarkers work moderately to well in predicting cognitive decline, onset of dementia and disease progression. However, most research has been conducted in clinical settings - primarily with patients referred for cognitive testing. This limits the generalizability of the results.
Therefore, in today's population-based cohort study, six Alzheimer's biomarkers were analyzed in the blood of participants without dementia.

At the end of this course you will know
- the clinical background and relevance of the research question under investigation
- the study design and methodology of the publication to answer the research question
- the results and key takeaways of the publication
- the conclusion of the publication and possible limitations
