This Medudy course is a video tutorial for physicians on the topic "Guideline-based therapy of heart failure: need for action across the entire spectrum of ejection fraction".
Heart failure is a progressive, life-threatening disease that remains one of the leading causes of hospitalization and death worldwide. Despite significant therapeutic advances, treatment success is still poor. Guideline-directed therapy (GDMT) has changed the therapeutic landscape by reducing hospitalizations and mortality. In clinical practice, however, GDMT is often initiated too late or incompletely, leaving many patients underserved. Prof. Böhm, Director of the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Internal Intensive Care Medicine at Saarland University Hospital, will explain why timely GDMT is essential and how it can be used effectively in clinical practice.
Note: All "speakers" appearing in the Medudy videos are AI-based avatars used to improve the didactics of the videos. The people on whom the avatars are based have explicitly consented to their use. All content is based on high-quality scientific sources and is created and reviewed by the Medudy medical team.
The course is supported by an Independent Medical Educational Grant from Boehringer Ingelheim.
At the end of this training you will know:
- the core components of GDMT and the evidence for their use
- the reasons why early, comprehensive initiation of GDMT is crucial for improving outcomes
- Common barriers to timely treatment and how to overcome therapeutic inertia
- the implementation of effective heart failure therapy
