Urgency and opportunity in heart failure: High-intensity guideline-based therapy across the entire spectrum of ejection fraction

This Medudy course is a video tutorial for physicians on the topic "Urgency and opportunity in heart failure: High-intensity guideline-based therapy across the entire spectrum of ejection fraction".

Heart failure is a growing global health problem characterized by high hospitalization rates and mortality comparable to cancer. Despite remarkable advances in treatment, the majority of patients remain underserved: fewer than one in five receive all four evidence-based therapies. This gap underlines the urgent need for a new standard of care: the rapid and comprehensive initiation of guideline-directed therapy (GDMT). Prof. Zieroth, Director of the Heart Failure and Transplant Clinics at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, will explore the importance of overcoming therapeutic inertia, practical strategies for the safe implementation of GDMT, and the role of hospitalization as an opportunity for life-saving interventions.

The course is supported by an Independent Medical Educational Grant from Boehringer Ingelheim.

At the end of this training you will know:

  • the four basic therapies of GDMT and the evidence for early, rapid initiation
  • the role of hospitalization as an opportunity for timely GDMT
  • the possible applications of GDMT across the entire spectrum of the ejection fraction
  • Practical strategies for overcoming clinical inertia and optimizing aftercare
