CD19 CAR-T cells in autoimmune diseases

This Medudy course is a video tutorial for physicians on the topic of "CD19 CAR-T cells in autoimmune diseases". The format used here is a so-called "Journal Club Summary", in which we summarize the latest and most clinically relevant studies for you.

Current treatment options for autoimmune diseases rely on immunosuppressive drugs and antibody-based therapies that deplete or inhibit B cells but do not achieve durable remission. A CAR-T cell therapy that specifically targets CD19 on B cells could represent a breakthrough as it profoundly depletes B cells and enables long-term, drug-free remission.
Today's study therefore investigated the short- and long-term efficacy and safety of CD19 CAR-T cell therapy in 15 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, idiopathic inflammatory myositis or systemic sclerosis.

Note: All "speakers" appearing in the Medudy videos are AI-based avatars used to improve the didactics of the videos. The people on whom the avatars are based have explicitly consented to their use. All content is based on high-quality scientific sources and is created and reviewed by the Medudy medical team.
