This Medudy course is a video tutorial for physicians on the topic of "Post-exposure prophylaxis with doxycycline". The format used here is a so-called "Journal Club Summary", in which we summarize the latest and most clinically relevant studies for you.
Bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are on the rise and disproportionately affect men who have sex with men and transgender women. Doxycycline is a promising option for STI prevention as it is effective against chlamydia and syphilis, is widely available as an inexpensive generic and has a strong safety profile with minimal drug interactions. Today's study therefore examines the efficacy, safety and potential resistance development of post-exposure prophylaxis with doxycycline in men who have sex with men and transgender women using HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis or living with HIV.
Note: All "speakers" appearing in the Medudy videos are AI-based avatars used to improve the didactics of the videos. The people on whom the avatars are based have explicitly consented to their use. All content is based on high-quality scientific sources and is created and reviewed by the Medudy medical team.
