The subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) is associated with fewer pacemaker-related complications than a transvenous ICD. However, the subcutaneous ICD cannot provide bradycardia and antitachycardia pacing. This multinational single-group study investigated whether a modular pacemaker-defibrillator system containing a wireless pacemaker in wireless communication with a subcutaneous ICD for bradycardia and antitachycardia pacing is safe.
